I feel like that quote defines the education system as we know it.
An integrative review of the association between attachment style and identity development.
To examine the empirical evidence regarding the association between attachment style and identity development. A search of the literature was conducted in the databases PsycINFO, PubMed and Web of Science from 1999 to 2015. After applying the inclusion criteria, 24 articles were found. Most of the studies were cross-sectional and the sample sizes varied from 81 to 1143 participants. The results of the studies suggest that the quality of the parent-child relationship and the security of the attachment are positively associated with identity development, while secure attachment is negatively associated with identity crises. The literature revealed that attachment quality is associated with identity development, and that the development of security in the mother-child attachment may contribute to the development of a sense of self. This study also shows that the quality of the parent-child relationship is an important factor for the development of identity./*
